Special Instructions for Stylist

Wardrobe for your headshot photography session can make a big impact on the resulting images. The goal with the Texas Oncology team member’s portraits is to make them appear confident, and therefore emphasize the person instead of the clothing.

With any headshot photo shoot, you want to make sure that the clothes are clean and wrinkle free before you begin. Avoid bulky clothing as it is rarely flattering for either men or women. We also recommend avoiding patterns on the fabric (i.e., floral prints, checkers, polka dots, stripes) because the patterns can detract from the face. These patterns can make the photo too “busy” and generally distracting. Sleeveless blouses are also items to avoid.
With regard to colors, darker colors photograph better than lighter colors because the darker or mid-tone colors tend to put more emphasis on your eyes and smile instead of the clothing. Try to avoid lighter colors that are too similar to your skin tone because they can make you appear washed out.

It is best to wear colors that are contrasting to your skin (generally teals, blues, purples), so if you have medium or darker colored skin tones, then you should try to avoid the earthy colors that are very similar to the color of your skin.

Please bring wardrobe on hangers to avoid excessive wrinkling
